Until she was in her twenties, Mary Roncarelli didn't
have a weight issue. After moving away from home to
attend university, Mary found herself adding on weight.
And found herself obsessed with calorie counting.
"I began dieting, which didn't work, and that
made me feel even more miserable. I was obsessed with
my weight and I was depriving myself of my favourite
foods. Of course, this only contributed to binge-eating."
After returning from a soul-searching vacation to Europe,
Mary was invigorated and ready to change her life.
"I decided to do things differently. I began to
take my health seriously, which meant balancing nutrition
and exercise. I also ended unhealthy relationships,
which were causing me undue stress, and I learned how
to fill myself with things other than food."
Less than two years later, Mary had not only lost the
extra weight, but she had discovered a new and happier
way of living. She has maintained her healthy weight
for the past fifteen years.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Physical Education and is
a Certified Lifestyle Counsellor, and is the author
